Eczema herpeticum in pregnancy
Eczema herpeticum (EH), or Kaposi's varicelliform eruption, is a skin infection with herpes simplex type I virus (HSV-1) that occurs in patients with compromised skin integrity, such as atopic dermatitis (AD). Kaposi's varicelliform eruption (eczema herpeticum) is the name given to a distinct cutaneous eruption caused by herpes simplex and certain other viruses that infect persons with preexisting dermatosis. متن کاملTreatment of eczema herpeticum with acyclovir.
Eczema herpeticum is a serious herpes simplex virus infection that may have a fatal outcome. Effective antiviral therapy is therefore imperative. Acyclvoir (9-[2-hydroxyethoxymethyl]-guanine) is a new antiviral agent with high potency and low toxic effect. We treated three cases of eczema herpeticum successfully with acyclovir.
متن کاملAutoinoculation and dissemination are two different forms of herpes virus spread.
Autoinoculation and dissemination (or Kaposi's varicelliform eruption or eczema herpeticum) of herpetic lesions are two forms of viral spread, and it is essential to differentiate between the two. Presented are typical examples of the two forms of viral spread.
متن کاملLocalized eczema herpeticum with unilateral ocular involvement.
We report a case of eczema herpeticum with unilateral ocular involvement in a 16-year-old boy. The patient has had a mild form of atopic dermatitis (AD) since early childhood. Why AD patients are prone to herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections is still unclear. Ocular pathologic findings in these cases are rarely reported.
